Painting and sculpting with the pros
Would you like the opportunity to paint Bilbo Baggins, ably assisted by a member of the 'Eavy Metal team? Or learn to sculpt heads and faces with some of the Studios longest serving sculptors? Well now you can because the Warhammer World team have released four new event tickets including two Masterclass workshops and two Throne of Skulls gaming weekends.
Talking of Warhammer World, I noticed this gorgeous collection of Heresy-era Emperor's Children painted by Demetris Tampakoudis (whose Flesh Tearers you may recall seeing on the blog the other week) in one of their display cabinets. All of the miniatures are converted using parts from plastic Space Marine kits combined with several Forge World armour and weapon sets.
Demetris has a very interesting way of painting the light purple armour on his miniatures. After basecoating them with a mix of Screamer Pink and Daemonette Hide he uses a Biel-tan Green wash to shade the recesses (yes, you read that right - a green wash over purple armour). He then highlights the armour using the same basecoat colour with a little White Scar added in. More White Scar is gradually added to the mix to further highlight the edges of the armour. To finish off, Demetris applies a final glaze of Lahmian Medium, Biel-tan Green and a little water to darken the areas of the model where natural shadows would occur.
