Sinister creatures, a bit of screaming and a rather long flight.
There's nothing quite like a new video to start the week, is there? Before pressing play though, make sure you have your speakers set to an appropriate volume. We played this in the office as loud as we could and quickly regretted it when the screaming began - Dom almost spiled his tea!
Anyway, take a look at the video and tell us what you think it's about on Facebook. Whatever it is, there isn't long to wait for it.
Seeing as we've started the day with a creepy video, we thought it would be nice (is that the right word to use?) to continue the theme and show off a few sinister creatures. Here are some of our favourites that we've had sent in to us:
This menacing Terrorgheist was painted by Wilkzswestra. The bat-faced Terrorgheist is easily one of the most sinister monsters in the Warhammer world and Wilkz has painted it to perfectly represent this. The sombre black and bone colour scheme is beautiful complemented by the glistening red of the exposed musculature and the sparse patches of dead grass on the base.
Jon Law has been busy working on a Warpfire Dragon, which is currently fighting alongside a band of Wood Elves, hence the woodland colour scheme. In all honesty the chances of it hiding, even in a forest, are pretty slim, as it is a very large and imposing figure. Of particular note are the extra eyes that the Warpfire Dragon has developed - all the better to see you in the dark depths of Loren Forest.
I confess, these two models weren't sent in to us, but rather they were photographed at Games Workshop Amsterdam during De Lage Landen Schilder Competitie 2012, which took place earlier in the year. Bragg the Gutsman, painted by Bart Weiser has been converted to carry a snapping bear trap instead of his usual scythe. Personally I think there aren't many things I'd fear more than a masked Ogre wielding a giant set of spring-loaded jaws.
Apart from this maybe...
My vote for most-sinister-picture-of-a-Warhammer-character-in-our-inbox award goes to Krell, the most famous Undead Warrior of Chaos. Krell was painted by Gert D'Hollander who opted to paint him with ancient red and brass armour. The haft of the mighty Black Axe glows as if it is somehow alive with power, which, knowing the sinister nature of Krell, it probably is. The dead and ruined tree trunks and the spider webs further emphasise Krell's sinister countenance.

To round off the day, we thought we'd let you know that several of us will be travelling over to Chicago at the weekend to take part in US Games Day. Games Developer Phil Kelly, Miniatures Designer Dale Stringer and 'Eavy Metal painter Joe Tomaszewski will be there to answer all your questions (within reason, of course) and show you their work. Excitingly, I will also be there (that's Dan, in case you were wondering) along with Rob from the Games Workshop video team; and Erik, one of the White Dwarf photographers, who will be taking plenty of pictures of the event. If you see us there make sure you come up and say hello. I look forward to chatting with as many of you as I can throughout the course of the day.
Sadly, while the rest of the team will travel over in style (well, economy class) I will be shipped off in a small box in the overhead compartment to save on travel costs - being small can be a curse sometimes.
If you haven't got your ticket for Games Day Chicago already then there should still be some available in our North America Hobby Centres, though as usual they do tend to disappear very rapidly the closer the event gets as people realise they haven't yet bought one. I've included a couple of picture towards the end of the gallery above to show you some of the models the staff have been working on for the huge participations games that are going on. Judging by the number of models they're painting up I get the feeling those games are going to be huge!
