The Grey Knights prepare for war

The other day we were sent these rather stunning Grey Knights painted by Martyn Norris. At the moment he only has a few models completed, but we thought they looked so nice (and shiny) that we would make a mini feature of them on the blog.

Martyn is particularly unlucky when it comes to gaming and so concentrated on painting his army to a really high standard instead (it's a well-known belief that painted models fight harder). He wanted his Grey Knights to have really shiny armour and so painted it in many layers, working up from Leadbelcher to Ironbreaker and then blending up to Runefang Steel for the final highlights. An extremely thin layer of Abaddon Black was then applied to the recesses to help shade the armour panels. We were also particularly intrigued by his Vindicare Assassin, which Martyn has painted to look as though his bodysuit is blending in with his surroundings. Now all Martyn needs to do is finish the rest of his army and, apparently, stop rolling 1s.
