Onwards, Men of the Empire!
A wide-brimmed hat, a massive sword, a collection of sharp-looking stakes and an impressive moustache - it can only be the Empire Witch hunter. This beautiful miniature was sent to us by Richard Harris, who also painted the Empire Warrior Priest that you can see in the gallery above. OK, so the Warrior Priest may not have a moustache, or even a fancy hat, but he does have two very large hammers, which more than make up for it. What we really liked about the miniatures was Richard's use of colour. The dark blacks and browns of the Witch Hunter's clothes are perfectly complemented by the red on the inside of his coat and the flush of his cheeks. Spot colours such as these draw the eye onto the focal points of the miniature like the face. The Warrior Priest wears more armour than the Witch Hunter and Richard chose to paint it using a non-metallic metal technique. By highlighting it in specific areas he has been able to simulate light shining off the armour. We think you'll agree that both miniatures look amazing.
