Claw and Fang part II

From Dan Harden at 16:04 BST

As promised earlier, here are a few of the Space Wolves that we've been working on over the last few months.

First up is Chris Singleton's Wolf Lord, which he painted as a one-off model in between a host of Dwarves for The Lord of the Rings. Much like the Thunderwolves painted by the 'Eavy Metal team, Chris used three colours to paint his too, starting with Skrag Brown in the middle and highlighting up to Ushabti Bone on the lower half of the wolf, and Rhinox Hide on the upper half.

Meanwhile, I've been preparing my Space Wolves army ready for the Warhammer 40,000 Doubles Event in September. Most of them are still at the Basecoat-and-Shade stage of painting, but I've already finished the Thunderwolf Cavalry (I got a bit carried away and finished them ahead of schedule). To start them off I basecoated the whole model with Mechanicus Standard Grey. I then highlighted the Space Wolves armour with Fenrisian Grey, and shaded the Thunderwolves with several layers of Nuln Oil and Agrax Earthshade.

And last, but certainly not least, we have a pack of Fenrisian Wolves painted by Dave Cundy, and Arjac Rockfist painted by Martin Morrin. Dave wanted a unit to represent the Blackmane Wolves - the largest and most vicious strain of Fenrisian Wolf. Curiously, Dave opted for a Skull White Undercoat on his models and then painted them using several layers of Nuln Oil and Agrax Earthshade to give them their final colour.
