Days of Thunder
Huge fangs, a ferocious attitude, and the undeniable odour of wet dog; sometimes it's difficult to tell whether we're talking about the Wolf Guard or the mighty Thunderwolves they ride into battle...
In this case, it's both.
The Thunderwolf Cavalry are the shock troops of the Space Wolves Chapter. Sure, the well-timed arrival of Wolf Guard Terminators can be particularly nasty, but nothing quite matches up to the sheer ferocity of the Thunderwolves. The ground shakes beneath their thunderous charge; the air is rent with the sound of their deafening howl, and the enemy quakes in fear of their lives. And rightly so, because when the Thunderwolf Cavalry hit the enemy battleline, they do so with the force of an avalanche (albeit an avalanche with sharp teeth, massive claws and whirring chainswords embedded in it).
As a Fast Attack choice for the Space Wolves, the Thunderwolf Cavalry are a great way to spearhead your army. Because they counts as Cavalry (not really surprising, that), they can get into close combat very quickly, tying up enemy units and denying them the ability to shoot at the rest of your force. You also have access to plenty of upgrades for them, which means you can customise your models depending on how they fit into your army list. If you use them to hunt down enemy tanks then a thunder hammer and melta bombs would be pretty useful. If your opponents have plenty of high-powered guns (particularly plasma flavoured ones), then storm shields would be a good idea. Don't forget to look at the Thunderwolf Cavalry page to see all the weapon options you get on the sprues and the 360˚ shots of the other models in the kit.
