Thunderwolves and Tervigons – the battlefield just got messy.
From dark skies heavy with snow come the Drop Pods of the Adeptus Astartes. Their livery suggests that they are Space Wolves, the most feral of all Space Marines. They have been sent to fight, and possibly die, on one of thousands of Imperial worlds. Beneath them a carpet of alien creatures writhes in anticipation - they are hungry for war and ready to take on anything the enemy throws at them. They are the Tyranids, and the Hive Mind has a few surprises in store for their new foe...
Yes, both the Space Wolves and the Tyranids will soon receive reinforcements, and they're not small ones either. For those of you that collect these two armies, Saturday 3rd March will be a very exciting day for you, as not only will you have access to some of the most destructive units in your Codex, but you can also wave them in front of your regular opponents and laugh manically at their crestfallen faces. And if you don't collect Space Wolves and Tyranids, well, now's the perfect time to start. Check out the new releases below and click on the product links to find out more about them.

Collecting Space Wolves is much like collecting an army of unique personalities. Like all Space Marines, a Space Wolf is a formidable warrior. It just so happens that they are also slightly unhinged - who in their right mind would set off into the snowy wilderness to hunt down and kill a wolf with their bare hands with only a tankard of warm beer for company? A Space Wolf, that's who. But every Space Wolf is different - some are cunning warriors, destined for a life of subterfuge and infiltration. Others are headstrong individuals that are always in the thick of the fighting, hacking and slashing at the enemy with the raw fury of a beast unleashed. Some may even find a grain of restraint and live to become a Long Fang where they will rain death and destruction upon the enemy from afar (though they will gladly wade into the thick of the fighting should their skill be required on a more personal level).
To own such a force is immense fun. Not only is it a very gratifying army to build and paint, but it's fantastic fun to play with, as you can really get into the psyche of a mighty Wolf Lord. It's highly entertaining, for example, to keep a kill tally for your commander just to see how well he's doing compared to his last battle. To help you complete your Space Wolves collection we have also released a whole host of miniatures in Citadel Finecast, from the dervish of destruction, Ragnar Blackmane, to the armoured might of Bjorn the Fell-Handed.

The Forces of the Hive Mind
Tyranids are the antithesis of personality and individuality. Every action of the Swarm is controlled by the Hive Mind and passed down through the Hive Tyrants to the lesser creatures. The fact that somewhere in the universe there is one immensely powerful creature controlling all these alien monstrosities is a truly scary thought. At least we hope there is only one of them...
To collect an army of Tyranids is to collect terror incarnate. Your opponents will find themselves faced with a fast moving horde of chittering creatures, supported by hulking monsters the size of Land Raiders. This may not seem so bad at first, but then the Genestealers emerge from a nearby building, a Trygon bursts out of the ground in the middle of their troops, Gargoyles descend from the sky and the swarm engulfs them. Suddenly the whole battlefield looks a lot less appealing.

To advance order your new Space Wolf and Tyranid kits make sure you click on the links above to add them to your cart. If you place your order before the end of Sunday 26th, and choose to have them shipped to your local Games Workshop, then we will strap them to a rampaging Carnifex and ensure that they are waiting for you in store on the day of release. Alternatively you can have them sent to an address of your choice (perhaps a Spore Chimney or nearby Hive Node) in which case your delivery will arrive on the week commencing Monday 5th March.
Don't forget the Dwarf!
One of the best ways to find out more about these epic new monsters and heroes is to pick up March's issue of White Dwarf. Within its hallowed pages you will find loads of hobby articles from painting guides to tactics and battle reports. In fact, here are a few pages that we managed to smuggle out of the White Dwarf's lair:
This issue is crammed full of Tyranid and Space Wolf goodness. There are two painting guides - one for the Tervigon and one for the Thunderwolf Cavalry, both of which are superbly easy to follow and give great results. For the Tyranids there are several army showcases including Phil Kelly's Hive Fleet Jormungandr (they're the black and yellow ones from the Apocalypse Rulebook if you didn't recognise the name). If you're a little more human and you prefer mighty beards to dripping tendrils, then there's also a huge section on the Saga of Harald Deathwolf - one of the many heroes of the Space Wolves Chapter.
This month's battle report takes place in Middle-earth on the summit of Amon Sûl, where Aragorn and the Hobbits take on the Ringwraiths. It is, as you would expect, nail-bitingly tense. Then there's a Golden Demon gallery of last year's Slayer Sword winners, the next instalment of Warhammer: Civil War, and a start to a new Tale of Four Gamers (the guy collecting the Mordor army is particularly cool and, so I've heard, very handsome...).
