It’s Flickr Thursday – Warhammer
Monsters seem to be the order of the day for Warhammer - there were absolutely loads of them on Flickr so we thought it was only fair to share a few of them. Okay, so Archaon isn't technically a monster, but would you want to fight him? No, I thought not. This rendition of the Lord of the End Times was painted by Richard Harris, who has really gone overboard on this model. Not only has he painted the metalwork with non-metallic metals, but he has also painted the glow of the lava onto the underside of the model. Dorghar (that's the raging daemonic steed) has never looked so good.
Jay Adan is one of our regular contributors and this Giant is one of his latest pieces of work. The blending on the cloth and the skin is so flawless it's almost painful, while the texture on the lump of masonry and the rusty chain is suitably gritty. It's a perfect blend of painting techniques.
And then we found this Stonehorn by Marc Giacco, which was equally as impressive. Overall it was the horns that really caught our eye, but then again it's hard for them not to - they are the width of the model. Make sure you check out the full image slider because there are a couple of close-up shots in there, including a tasty-looking rack of ribs and a roast chicken hanging from the saddle. They're probably mid-battle snacks.
To round off the day we return to our first contributor, Banzai1000, who also uploaded this Chaos Lord on Manticore. The combination of green armour (more Nurgle perhaps?) and yellow beastie work really well together, and there are loads of subtle details that definitely deserve a second glance - the blue shadow beneath the Manticore's eye and the shining metal effect on the blade, for example.
Remember, if you want to send us your models, all you have to do is upload them to our Flickr pool or send them to us at whatsnewtoday@games-workshop.co.uk. Don't forget to write a bit about your models, too, as there are many hobbyists out there who would love to know how you painted your latest creation.
