Warp Lightning (no, not that type)

Where there's one fantastically painted model, there are normally several more, it's like the painting bug spreads from one person to another. This was exactly what happened while we were taking pictures of Ollie's Skaven army in our previous post, because on the next table along we found this stunning Dreadnought painted by James Penniston. Despite being involved in several brutal close combats (well, his models, not James personally), James was still able to tell us a bit about his model.

The main body of the conversion is from the Relic Contemptor Dreadnought by Forge World, which is easily one of their most popular kits in recent months. James uses it to represent a Librarian Dreadnought in his Blood Angels army, hence the huge Dreadknight sword that it carries into battle to hack, chop and psychically terminate all who get in his way. We were particularly impressed with the lightning effect that he achieved on the force weapon - an effect that you can see in the 'Eavy Metal Masterclass Book should you wish to replicate it yourself.
