The board is set, the pieces are moving.
Tomorrow is a big day for fans of The Lord of the Rings as we've got five new Sourcebooks, a host of new miniatures and several awesome new monsters being released. Like many of you out there, I have quite a large collection of Citadel Miniatures and many of them are from The Lord of the Rings game system. As of late many of them have been content to dominate the cabinet in my study at home while I build more Orks for an Apocalypse game I've got planned. But with this new wave of releases my Orks have been shunted to one side, the Army Cases have come out from the spare room (known as the Figure Case room) and the armies of Middle-earth have taken over my desk once again (and my desk at work, the cabinets at work, my Paint Station and the gaming table...).
For those of you that haven't seen the new stuff yet then you can see all the kits and the Sourcebooks at the bottom of this blog post - there really is a lot of it! If you haven't ordered your models already then the majority of these kits (excluding the set of dead bodies and the Orc Shaman) will be available right off the shelf from your local Games Workshop Hobby Centre first thing tomorrow morning. Just make sure your finest Elven Steed is well-rested tonight so that you can be the first to get there. Unless you know someone with a Fellbeast - they're faster than horses...
Of course, we do know that some people may not be able to get to one of our Hobby Centres; maybe you need to look after the Goblins this weekend, or the route over the mountains has been covered in a deluge of sorcerous snow. Either way, all of these new models are available to order right here on the website. If you place your order today, we'll despatch it first thing on Monday morning, attached to the back of a rampaging Great Beast of Gorgoroth (or failing that we'll just get the Orcs to deliver it as normal).
Don't forget to also pick up February's copy of White Dwarf while you're there, as it has plenty of information about how to use the new Sourcebooks, a couple of great painting guides, plus a full battle report using the new scenario and warband rules. It also has a fantastically cool section at the back dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Warhammer 40,000. Who'd have thought my favourite futuristic wargame was 25 years old this year, eh? Makes me feel immensely young! Now, what models to paint next - more Uruk-hai perhaps? Or maybe some of the new Easterlings? Choices, choices...
