Incoming! Orcs & Goblins; Warhammer miniatures; A Thousand Sons
Waaagh! (That's almost as much fun to type as it is to yell. Well, almost) The Orcs & Goblins are gathering in force and will be joined by some reinforcements in May. If you missed the newsletter announcement yesterday then check out Incoming: Orc & Goblin Reinforcements for the full scoop. Then head on over to your My Games Workshop page and make sure you're signed up to receive our newsletters. You then won't need to worry about missing any future announcements.
Suitably enthused by the news of new greenskins and what it might mean for Warhammer, this morning I went for a walk around the building to see what square-based hobby I could uncover.

This Orc Shaman has pride-of-place on Rik Turner's monitor. A limited edition model, it was released when the Orcs & Goblins army book first came out. Click on the image to see the rear of the model.

Chris Pritchard painted these Ogres over the weekend. He wanted to see what sort of an effect he could get over a Skull White undercoat by just using Citadel Washes. Even the design on the banner was painted using a wash of Badab Black.

Rik painted this Giant to use with his Dwarf army as part of a narrative campaign. I'm not sure if the Giant is going to obey the Dwarf or kick him in the head. What do you think?

Chris converted this Giant to use with his Warriors of Chaos army by chopping off the hands and replacing them with claws from the Keeper of Secrets.
Oh, and remember this blog from a couple of weeks ago, which featured the Black Library Live event, well last week Graham McNeill's new novel Horus Heresy: A Thousand Sons became the UK's No.1 bestselling book in the Science Fiction & Fantasy genre. This is the first time a Black Library novel has ever topped the book charts and as I'm sure you can imagine, the guys over in BL were rather excited. On Friday afternoon, Graham popped by the Black Library office to drop off a manuscript and pass on his thanks to the rest of the BL team for their help in making the book such a success. I caught up with him briefly and asked him what he thought about the book's success:
'I found out by email on [last] Tuesday night and I thought, oh that's nice. It wasn't really until the next day when I realised hey, this is a big deal. I mean wow.'
He also asked me to pass on his thanks to everyone that showed up for Black Library Live for their enthusiasm and input, he had a great time with you all.

I convinced Graham to pose for a photo so that those of you who haven't had the opportunity to meet him can put a face to the name, which is always nice.

While he was in the office Graham put the finishing touches to 'Apostle's Creed' a short story that will feature in a Sabbat Worlds anthology due out this October. Click on the image for a closer look at the opening page.
