Every Mekboy'z dream: the all new plastic Ork Deff Dread.
This morning has been rather exciting here in the office as we've just received a copy of the new Warhammer 40,000 Battle Missions book. This new supplement contains more than thirty new missions and having a quick flick through I was really excited by the fact that each one of themenables an army to fight in a way that its background and stories have always described them fighting. You can play surprise assaults with Space Marines, launch Webway attacks with your Eldar and engage in trench warfare with the Imperial Guard. At the back of the book there are even three special missions that can be used with any army; I'm particularly looking forward to taking on an entire Imperial super-heavy tank company in the Line Breaker mission.
As well as the book, we also got a new plastic Space Marine Venerable Dreadnought, Ork Deff Dread and three Killa Kans to play with. These three plastic sets along with new Chimera and Basilisk kits, will all be released alongside the Battle Missions book.
Anyway, your local Games Workshop Hobby Centre will be receiving their own copy of Battle Missions and the new miniatures at some point this week. You can see some pictures of the ones we have here in the office below.
This month's Black Box is packed full of Citadel miniatures. I'd highly recommend popping down and taking a look, you might even get to build one of the new kits if you ask the staff nicely.
Once I finally put the Battle Missions book down I spent most of the morning looking at the impressive Venerable Dreadnought and Deff Dread kits. I can just imagine these two combat monsters going head to head. I think that the Dreadnought has more options on it than any other Warhammer 40,000 kit I've seen. It has alternate heads, a bunch of different sarcophagi, armour plates, purity seals, wreaths and all the weapon options you would expect. The Deff Dread is a Mekboy'z dream and there are so many pieces on the frame that no two Deff Dreads need ever look the same.
As well as all the plastic kits, there is an extra treat for Ork players: a new Flash Git.He is armed with a snazzgun and a one-eyed targeting squig which has to be my favourite squig of all time. The Flash Git is Available to Order only so you can advance order him here at games-workshop.com, through the in-store terminals or by calling customer services.
Battle Missions, the Venerable Dreadnought and new Ork miniatures are now available to Advance order. You can order them below and we'll ship them to you for day of release - the 6th of March.
As well as all of the brand-new models, the Studio has also updated the Imperial Guard Chimera and Basilisk kits. They're both more straightforward to assemble and include all the weapon options listed in the Imperial Guard Codex. The Chimera kit includes a turret-mounted multi-laser, a turret-mounted heavy flamer, a turret-mounted heavy bolter, a hull-mounted heavy flamer, a hull-mounted heavy bolter, a hunter-killer missile and two different tank commanders. And if you are ordering a tank or two, then the Tank Accessories Bitz Pack has a host of useful components that are great for adding a personal touch to your vehicles.
