Warhammer & Warhammer 40,000 rosters; Skaven; Imperial Fists
We've created a Warhammer roster sheet and a Warhammer 40,000 roster sheet for you to download and use. Roster sheets for The Lord of the Rings and War of the Ring are being designed at the moment and should be available to download within the next few weeks
As I wandered through the Studio this morning I noticed that Pete Foley had already made good use of the Warhammer roster sheet. Before ascending to some sort of shadowy overseer, Pete used to be part of the 'Eavy Metal Team and both his Screaming Bell and Plague Furnace look fantastic. He wasn't at his desk when I took this picture but I'm sure he'll be let me take some pictures of his army list and units to share with you in future blogs.
While I was in the Studio I popped by Kevin Chin's desk to see his Imperial Fists army. Kevin is one of the Studio artists and the rumours of his great-looking force turned out to be well founded.
Kevin wanted his army to look like it has seen combat. He told me 'I didn't want them to look like they had come straight out of a factory. I wanted them to be sullied by the battlefield, as though they had been on campaign'. If you like closely you'll see that each of Kevin's units and vehicles are actually slightly different shades of yellow, again this was to give the army a more realistic feel.
All of Kevin's Veterans have off-white helmets that he basecoats with Astronomican Grey and washes with the same 50/50 mix of Badab Black and Devlan Mud that he uses on every other area of his models. Notice the green glow he's added around the eyes.
Kevin has bulked out his Sternguard squads by modelling some of his own from various plastic Space Marine kits. He used a lots of the more ornate components such as the Company Champion helmet and shoulder pads from the Space Marine Command Squad.
As with his infantry, Kevin undercoats his vehicles Chaos Black and uses the Spray Gun to basecoat them with Iyanden Darksun. He then washes them with a 50/50 mix of Badab Black and Devlan Mud, before drybrushing them with a 70/30 mix of Golden Yellow and Iyanden Darksun. He then highlights them further depending on how he wants the finished model to look.
Once he has finished painting them, Kevin adds dirt to his tanks by drybrushing a 50/50 mix of Scorched Brown and Bestial Brown. He starts at the bottom of the vehicle and drybrushes up to simulate mud splatter. Click on the image for a closer look at the dirt effect.
