Gaunt & Gargoyle Assembly; Your miniatures
Jim Sowter and Andy Hall have penned yet another new set of Tyranid articles; Tyranids: Hormagaunts and Termagants Assembly and Tyranids - Gargoyles Stage-by-Stage Assembly, which also includes a detailed frame diagram of the Gargoyles set.
Remember last week I asked you to send us some pictures of your painted and converted miniatures? Well it has taken me days to sift through the 100 or more emails and close-to 200 images you've sent in. Here are just a few of the pictures we received; I'll share more of them over the next few weeks.

Chris Hook modelled this Dreadnought from the one in the Assault on Black Reach set. He wanted a Dreadnought armed with a twin-linked heavy flamer and a heavy flamer, as it's not a combination that's often seen and he figured 'it might be quite good against horde armies, like Orks'. Chris reposed the legs, replaced the power fist with the one from the Ironclad Dreadnought kit, cut away the multi-melta and replaced it with a cut-down flamestorm cannon. Finally he topped the engine exhausts with the eagle heads from the Empire Steam Tank kit. He also added a number of Forge World icons to the model, and the banner from the Ironclad kit.

These Deathguard were modelled and painted by James Littler. He converted them from plastic Chaos Space Marines, using Green Stuff to model the corrosion and boils onto the armour. James painted them by following an old 'Eavy Metal Masterclass featuring Typhus. He painted the blood by layering crimson caligraphers ink. James particularly likes 'the little zombie being dragged around on a rope and the Nurgling with a cheeky mischievous grin'.

Paul Keene made this Warp Spider using a range of components, including an Autarch Warp Spider Backpack, a Dark Elf head, a Guardian body and legs, a Dark Reaper's gun and a Warp Spider gun barrel. Click on the image to view his converted Wraithlord, which has had its legs repositioned and carries a Scythe made from two Bright Lances and some parts from a Wave Serpent. Both of these models are part of Paul's Altansar army that totals an incredible 13000 points.

After reading last Wednesday's blog, Pawel Piwnicji sent me this picture of his own Tyranid Prime conversion. He 'started with the premise that it was supposed to be a bigger and tougher version of a Tyranid Warrior' and used the legs and head from an old metal Hive Tyrant. Pawel used a torso from the new plastic Ravener kit but replaced the Ravener's spine plates with ones from the old Tyrant to add some extra bulk. He also used the scything talons from the Tyranid Warrior kit and boneswords from the old plastic Tyranid Warrior frame.
If you've some painted or converted miniatures that you're particularly proud of and want to show off then send me some pictures - I'm always happy to look at great hobby and I'll feature the best here on the blog.
