Merry Christmas!
With most of Games Workshop HQ having gone home to get ready for Santa, turkey and tomorrow's merriment, it's rather quiet around here today. Those that are left have been using today to get on with some of their own hobby projects. I took a wander around this morning to see what they had on their paint stations, cabinets and desks:
-
Forge World sculptor, Will Hayes converted this Space Marine Apothecary using a mixture of Space Marine plastic and metal components. He glued an old, metal skull-shaped shoulder pad onto the Apothecary's right shoulder and added a Forge World Red Scorpion one to his left. Will sculpted the loin cloth, belt and Terminator Honours using Green Stuff.
-
This Space Marine standard bearer is another model from Phil Stutcinskas Red Scorpions army. Phil used the Emperor's Champion model as the basis for his conversion, swapping his head for Commander Cullin's (a Forge World miniature) and sword for a piece of brass rod and a Forge World banner. He has also added Commander Cullin's sword to the model's left hand.
-
Mark Farr modelled this Hell Pit Abomination using four plastic Chaos Spawn kits. He chopped all of their legs off and then used Green Stuff to blend all of the torsos together. Mark then added a couple of heads from the Rat Ogres kit.
-
Rik Turner converted this Land Raider Crusader, into a command tank for his Black Templars army, by adding thin strips of plasti-card around the armour joins. Notice the raised gunner platform at the rear, which Rik made using the roof section from a Sisters of Battle Immolator.
-
Simon Grant converted this Space Wolves Rune Priest to represent a special character of his own devising (spot the name on the model's base). Simon replaced the models axe with Ragnar Blackmane's sword and added some horns from the helmets of Dwarf Warriors to the hilt. He's swapped the model's backpack for the ornate one found on the Space Wolves frame.
-
This Imperial Fists Captain is another of Simon's conversions. He began with the Space Marine Captain from the Assault on Black reach set, swapped his head for a Khorne Bezerker's and sculpted a plume from Green Stuff. The back-banner, power sword and combi-bolter are all from the Space Marine command frame. The fist on the banner is a Space Marine's hand.
The blog will be back from its Christmas holiday on December 29th. If you get up to any cool hobby over the Christmas break, send us some pictures to whatsnewtoday@games-workshop.co.uk and I'll feature the best here on the blog.
Oh and before I go, if you subscribe to the Games Workshop Newsletter then make sure you check your inbox tomorrow morning - there'll be a little surprise in there for you...
Have a great Christmas.
