Crimson Fists Scenario, Imperial Fists
Adam has written a scenario as a follow-up to Friday's background article, allowing you to re-fight the Defence of Fortress Maladon, where a small company of Crimson Fists led by Captain Cortez held out against a much larger force of Iron Warriors until they were eventually relieved by a force led by Pedro Kantor himself.
This morning Rob has been wandering through Games Workshop HQ in search of more Crimson Fists. As you probably know, the Crimson Fists were on the cover of Rogue Trader the first Warhammer 40,000 rulebook and so they have a particular resonance with some of the artists and designers in the Studio. As well as the rest of Neil Hodgson's army, Rob also found a host of vehicles clustered around Tom Hibberd's desk.

Neil basecoats all of his Crimson Fists using a mix of Midnight Blue (I would suggest Necron Abyss as a good alternative) and Regal Blue. For highlights he uses a mix of Regal Blue and Space Wolves Grey with a final highlight of pure Space Wolves Grey. Click on the image for a close-up of Pedro Kantor.

Neil has really stayed true to the iconography of the Crimson Fists throughout his force and this can be seen on his character models. Not only has he used transfers and Bitz Packs but he has ensured that every one of his characters and Sergeants is equipped with a power fist.
-
Tom basecoats his army using Necron Abyss and then washes the whole model with a mix of Badab Black and Devlan Mud. He highlights his models with a drybrush of Ultramarines Blue and then finally Ice Blue. The metal effect is achieved using a Stippling Brush and Boltgun Metal.

Tom is particularly proud of his Predator which he has begun to decorate with lots of the new Bitz. He has used the Techmarine from the Predator kit but has also added additional stowage from the Razorback frame, which he found while rummaging in his bitz box. While Rob was in the Studio photographing Tom and Neil's Crimson Fists, he also took a couple of shots of Matt Hutson's Imperial Fist army that is in progress on his desk. Matt's been building this army for over a year and is adding more stuff at the moment especially for the Warhammer 40,000 Doubles Tournament in Warhammer World in January. The end effect is beautiful and detailed (as you might expect from one of White Dwarf's graphic designers) and also owes something to Matt Special Secret Imperial Fist Yellow. Matt mixes this in secret, on the full moon, facing south-west on the hill behind his artist's garret, only stirring clockwise. He has repeatedly refused to tell White Dwarf editor Mark Latham what is in this magic mixture (although after making Andy hide in the dustbin outside his house for three days, I can tell you that it definitely contains Iyanden Darksun, Gryphonne Sepia, Golden Yellow and Sunburst Yellow, but we can't be sure at what stages he mixes the different colours together).

Matt has decided to add some Drop Pods to his force for the upcoming tournament and I found him in the middle of painting one. Matt paints the main section separately from the bottom and doors as this allows him to get to all the inside detailing before final assembly.
-
Matt's force is growing steadily and there was even more on the shelf, including a Land Raider, which we might get round to showing you later on. He has even had time to make a few objective markers. Click on the image to see a close up of his wounded Space Marine.
