40K & WFB Army Figure Cases; Skaven wallpaper; Hell Pit Abominations
We got such a great response to Tuesday's blog and Alex Boyd's Skaven art, that we've added another new Skaven article to the Astronomican; Skaven: Art of The Under-Empire showcases some of the artwork from the Skaven army book and even has some of Skaven creator Jes Goodwin's early sketches. It also has a Skaven wallpaper for you to download and use.
There are two new Army Figure Cases out tomorrow: a green Warhammer 40,000 one and a red Warhammer version. They've each got their respective logos embossed on the lid and have three layers of our standard Figure Case foam and a three-layer thick piece of custom-foam that you can adapt to hold virtually any model. It's the custom-foam that I'm particularly excited about. With the Stegadons and Valkyries I've bought over the last few months, and the Screaming Bell I'll be picking up next week, I've now got dozens of large plastic kits in need of safe storage, which is what the custom-foam was designed for. My one grumble is that there are only a limited number of them available so make sure you get yours early like I'm going to!
If you can't get down to your local Hobby Centre tomorrow, then you can order the Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 Figure Cases below and we'll send them to you on Monday.
This morning, Stephan Gartner and Jean-David Mayan, from Games Workshop France, sent me some pictures of their Hell Pit Abomination conversions. We don't currently produce a model for the Hell Pit Abomination, but it's a powerful monster and makes for an interesting modelling project.
Here's what Stephan and Jean-David came up with:
-
Jean-David modelled his Hell Pit Abomination using the Caller's giant rat miniature from the Necromunda range. He created the bony protrusions with plastic maces and used Green Stuff to blend them into the skin. Notice the Water Effects Jean-David has used on the base.
-
Stephan started with the body from a Dark Elves Cold One, and added fur with Green Stuff. He built up the front of the model using the Chaos Spawn kit and heads from various plastic Skaven sets. Stephan wanted 'a monster created by a mad doctor from the Moulder clan in their cavern laboratories'.
And on the subject of emails, the relatively full What's new today inbox has been dwarfed by the staggering 4000+ Wish List emails you've sent to santa@games-workshop.co.uk. If you haven't heard about our Wish List Prize Draw yet, then you'll find full details here. But the gist of it is: create and send a Wish List to us and your friends and family, and you could win some free Games Workshop vouchers.
Oh, and after much thought, I've finalised my own Christmas wish list. You can find my 'Stuff I'd like for Christmas' Wish List using our Wish List Search tool, you know, should you be in a giving mood...
