Grombrindal in Space; your miniatures
New to the Astronomican today is an article focusing the new White Dwarf Subscription model. White Dwarf: New Subscription Model features Spin-o-Vision (I think Adam's working on a trademark), which lets you rotate the White Dwarf Subscription miniature through 360 degrees, and an interview with the model's sculptor, Dave Thomas.
After yesterday's blog featuring painted miniatures from here at Games Workshop HQ, I received dozens of emails with pictures of fantastic painted miniatures.
Here are a few of my favourites so far:
-
Joshua Howdeshell converted and painted this Iron Hands Captain for last year's L.A. Golden Demon. He's used Space Marine legs, an Iron Warriors torso and a Chaos Space Marine power fist that he's filed the detail off. For extra detail, Joshua added a Space Wolves knife, some icons from the Dreadnought kit, and an icon from the Inquisitor Tech-priest. Notice the pieces of Necron Destroyer Joshua has added to the base.
-
Joshua won a local painting competition with his Pedro Kantor model. Joshua painted Pedro in the traditional Crimson Fists colour scheme of deep blue and red. Click on the image for a closer look at the front and rear of the model.
-
Sigurd Aune Hellem based his Chaos Lord on the Champion of Chaos model. He swapped the Champion's head with one from the Empire Flagellant set and added some severed heads from the Zombie frame. For the axe, Sigurd glued together two axe-heads from the Beastman frame. Sigurd painted the model in muted browns and dull metals to emphasise his Lord's focus on battle rather than accruing wealth.

This Chaos biker was converted by Pete Fox, who wanted to add some variation to his squad. He extended the forks with plastic tubing and added the cabling from the Cadian Command frame. Pete trimmed and used the mudguard from the Scout Bike set and added the bedroll from the same frame to add some strength to the wheel join. He then cut the Chaos Space Marine's leg and repositioned it.
And before I forget, we've opened four new Games Workshop Hobby Centres over the last week in: one in Newbury England, one in Crewe England, one in Camberwell Australia and one in Ajax Ontario in Canada.
