Incoming: Tyranids; Bio-Titan; White Dwarf miniature
Yesterday, at UK Games Day, we announced the new Codex: Tyranids. It's due out in January along with some new Tyranid models. For everyone that couldn't make it to Games Day, Adam Troke has put together this Incoming: Tyranids article, which introduces the Tyranids and has a picture of Adrian Smith's cover art for the new Codex.
Tyranids first got their own army list in White Dwarf and the new one will be their fourth Codex, and was written by Robin Cruddace. As you'll read in Adam's article, the new Codex features lots of new units - there will be three new plastic kits and three new metal models released alongside the Codex.
I couldn't talk about Tyranids without showing off the massive Forge World Tyranid Hierophant Bio-Titan that's in the Warhammer World store. So here it is:
Chris Peach painted this Hierophant to coincide with the Apocalypse release. Hopefully the Gaunts on the base will give you an idea of just how large this model is. Click on the image to see the model in its entirety.
Chris chose Ultramarines as the Hierophant's victims because the store also has a large Ultramarines army and he wanted to create a narrative with the armies available. The blood spatter was painted using Scab Red highlighted with Blood Red, and was then washed with Devlan Mud and varnished with 'Ard Coat.
Also revealed at Games Day was the new White Dwarf Subscription model, which sadly means that the current one will soon be taken off sale. The White Dwarf models are great miniatures and something I personally look forward to every year - hopefully one day I'll have enough of them to use as a unit on the gaming table...
Anyway, if you haven't got this year's yet, then you still have until the 31st October to pick one up. And for the rest of us, that means we only have to wait until the 1st November to get next year's one.
Until then, here's a look at the current White Dwarf miniature:
