Four Tau articles; Tau conversions; new Forge World kits
Today we've added four more articles to the White Dwarf Archive; Warhammer 40,000: Converting Tau Battlesuits, which has some great examples of how the 'Eavy Metal team converted their own Tau Battlesuits; Warhammer 40,000: Warriors of the Fire Cast is a guide to converting, assembling, and painting your Fire Warriors; Warhammer 40,000: War Machines of the Tau Empire takes an in-depth look at painting Tau vehicles, including how to paint camouflage; and Warhammer 40,000: Focus on Tau Stealth Suits looks at assembling and gaming with Stealth Teams.
Arno Dankers works in the Warhammer World store and is an avid Tau player. This morning he showed me some new units he's recently added to his army:
-
Arno converted these Tau Fire Warriors into Tau auxiliaries by using the legs and heads from Cadian Shock Troops. He uses them to represent the troops of a rogue planetary governor who has pledged his support to the Tau. Arno used the dead grass from the Warhammer Basing Kit as it more closely resembled the colour of his army's armour - he felt that the Tau would match their armour to their surroundings. Notice the pony tail Arno has Green Stuffed onto the squad leader.
-
This Krootox is one of the many Kroot units in Arno's army. He explained to me that his Tau Commander is operating on the fringe of Tau territory and needs to use auxiliaries and allies as much as possible. This is a good example of how you can use narrative to shape your miniature collection. Notice the Space Marine helmet and Imperial Guard webbing on the Krootox's base - obviously they had resisted becoming part of Arno's armada.
Yesterday I mentioned there'd be some new Forge World miniatures available to buy at Games Day this Sunday. I popped by their office this morning and took some picture of the three new kits, which you can see below:
-
The XV-9 'Hazard' Close Support Armour is armed with two twin-linked burst cannons and is designed to act as a powerful counter-attack unit and mobile weapons platform. Designed by Daren Parrwood it is slightly larger than a standard Crisis Suit.
-
This is a new variant of the Blood Slaughterer of Khorne and features a savage looking barbed harpoon launcher arm and a new head. You'll find the rules for using the Blood Slaughterer with Impaler in Imperial Armour Volume Seven, the Siege of Vraks Part Three.
-
The Plague Hulk is a Daemon Engine sacred to Nurgle. Designed by Sean Green and Phil Stutcinskas, this fusion of bloated Daemon-thing and Chaos Defiler is a hybrid kit using resin components and elements from the plastic Chaos Defiler kit.
Oh, and if you don't have your ticket to Games Day then you can still pop down. Just turn up in the morning and pay on the door.
