You might remember Jamie Forster's Warhammer character models from a couple of weeks ago. Well, it turns out he has converted an entire army, which also won him Best Painted Army at Heat One of the Grand Tournament in 2005.
Here's a look at Jamie's Tomb Kings army and a close-up of some of the more interesting units:
Jamie's favourite Warhammer character is Nagash, and he has both a large Vampire Counts army, which includes the dreaded Necromancer, and a large Tomb Kings army. Inspired by the background of Nagash and the Undead, Jamie wanted to model an army that would reflect the force gathered by Alcadizzar the Conqueror to face Nagash on the Plain of Bones. For his infantry, Jamie used High Elf Archer legs, torsos from the Catachan Heavy Weapon Team, beastmen arms and spears, and Tomb King Warrior bows and shields. Notice the converted heads, which use the top half of a Tomb Kings Skeleton head and the lower half from a Catachan head.
These Ogre Bulls have been converted to represent Ushabti. Jamie made the headwear from Green Stuff and used Ushabti blades as the basis for the swords. The breastplates were made by cutting the bottom off of two Tomb King shields, and then gluing the two top halves together.
Jamie used the Tomb Kings chariot for his chariots but replaced the skeletal steeds with horses taken from the Medieval Horses Bitz Pack. The crew were assembled in the same way as the other infantry in Jamie's army.
The Screaming Skull Catapult has been hand-made from strips of balsa wood. Again, the crew have been made in the same way as the other infantry in Jamie's army. Click on the image for a closer look at the one holding the 'Skulls of the Foe'.
