Space Hulk update
This morning we emptied the UK warehouse of English language copies of Space Hulk. All the copies that haven't been advance ordered have just rolled past the window in lorries bound for Games Workshop Hobby Centres and Independent Stockists around the UK. That means the only way you can get a copy of Space Hulk is to be at your local Games Workshop this Saturday morning. I've checked the weather report and Saturday is supposed to be warm and sunny- so the good news is you won't need a raincoat for the inevitable queues.
And if your local store happens to be Warhammer World, then you're in for an added treat - they'll be running a life-sized Space Hulk participation game in which you can don a specially made mask and play as either a Terminator or Genestealer. Ray and the guys from the Warhammer World scenery team have even made some storm bolters and a heavy flamer for you to use in the game.
While helping 'test' the storm bolters this morning, I took some more pictures of the massive board that Ray and his team have been busy working on for this year's UK Games Day. Here's a look at how it's progressing:
-
This 'mega-bastion' was made using many Bastion kits and incorporates a Skyshield Landing Pad. Rather than hand-paint all of the heavy bolters, Ray devised a 'mask' that would allow him to spray-paint them. Click on the image to see it in action.
-
A second mega-bastion, this is yet another example of how flexible the Warhammer 40,000 scenery kits are. Click on the image for a look at how the team used the floor section from the modular movement tray set to give their mega-bastions stability.
-
The river section is now finished and ready for painting. Click on the image for a top-down-view.
-
Made from a couple of Shrine of the Aquila sets, the city gates have been mounted on hinges and can be opened or closed.
If you missed out on our earlier look at the board, you can find it here.
Also this morning we've added yet another article to the White Dwarf Archive: Citadel Hobby Essentials Modular Movement Trays.
Oh and we've just opened two new Hobby Centres: one in Nuneaton in the UK, and one in Pau in France. You can find the address and get personalised driving directions to these and all our stores in the Storefinder.
