Knights of Warhammer
There's more for Bretonnian players today, this time from Jim Sowter and Nick Bayton who have put together this Bretonnian Knight Stage-by-Stage Painting Guide. Bretonnians aren't the only army that can field units of knights and mounted heroes, and most Warhammer player around the building have at least one inspirational, mounted model.
Here's a few I uncovered on my wanderings this morning:
-
Dominic Murray wanted his First Knight to stand out from the rest of his Empire Knights so he cut and repositioned the legs so that the horse was rearing up. Click on the image for a look at the other side of the model.
-
Dom converted the Empire General into a BattleStandard Bearer by adding a head taken from a Pistolier. The standard was scratch-built from plastic rod and paper. Click on the image for a close look at the banner, which Dom hand-painted.
-
Duncan Rhodes converted this Empire General to a Grandmaster to lead his Empire Knightly Order. The plume, arms and shield are all from the Empire Knightly Order set, and the helmet is actually from an old plastic Bretonnian Knight.
-
I based my own Bretonnian Lord on the Green Knight model. The lance, saddle stowage and shield are from the Bretonnian Lord model, while the cloak is made from Green Stuff. Click on the picture for a closer look at the barding.
Oh, and while I was rounding up Bretonnian models to photograph, I came across the Studio's Bretonnian style guide. It's a huge binder full of concept art and sketches that helped make sure that the Bretonnian miniature range had a cohesive feel to it.
Here's some of John Blanche's artwork from the guide:
