Bretonnian Tactica
After a couple of weeks of writing Warhammer 40,000 articles, Adam Troke has put together a great Bretonnian Tactics article, which looks at every Bretonnian unit and provides tactics for each. He even managed to convince Alessio to share his top tips for gaming with Bretonnians.
Bretonnian armies are well known for their bright heraldry, but some people choose to give their Knights a dirtier, grittier appearance - after all, knights do spend most of their time fighting for their lord.
The Studio's Chris Peach and Duncan Rhodes, have both painted their Bretonnian armies to represent campaigning forces. Here are a couple of their favourite units:
-
Chris liked the idea of painting his units in a faded orange while all of his characters would be in a much bolder red. He's given his army a cohesive look by painting the knights predominately in orange, but has still given them their own heraldry.
-
These Men-at-arms have been painted in the same orange as the Knights. The knight on foot is a conversion using a Knight's head and sword arm, and a Man-at-arms body. Notice how the unit carries the knight's heraldry.
-
Duncan wanted his knights to look like they had charged across a muddy field, so drybrushed each model with Graveyard Earth and then applied a 50/50 mix of Badab Black and Devlan Mud Wash.
-
Fresher looking than his other knights, Duncan painted this one because he 'wanted to try his hand at a complicated pattern'. This is also the first knight Duncan used transfers on, which he then painted over with Skull White.
