Your miniatures
Having shown you models from around Games Workshop HQ yesterday (thanks to everyone who emailed me their thoughts on Simon Goodwin's Khorne Berzerker, I had a lot of fun reading them) I thought I'd show off some of your miniatures today.

This is Richard Lush's Nurgle Daemon Prince, Melnik Bileclaw. Richard began with the plastic Daemon Prince model and added Ghazghkull Thraka's claw arm and a pot belly he sculpted using Green Stuff. The skin was basecoated with Tallarn Flesh, washed with Ogryn Flesh and then highlighted with Tallarn Flesh. Richard then washed the recesses with Baal Red and Leviathan Purple, and applied a final highlight of Elf Flesh. The wing membranes were painted with Calthan Brown, washed with Devlan Mud and then Badab Black. This gave them a leathery look, which Richard was happy with so he decided not to add any highlights.

Tom Millet painted this unit of Empire Knights. He painted the barding using a Regal Blue and Chaos Black mix, which he washed with Badab Black, and highlighted with the blue/black mix. He added further highlights by progressively adding more Regal Blue and then adding Skull White to the mix. The gold areas were painted with a 1:1 mix of Burnished Gold and Chaos Black, and washed with Badab Black. Tom then highlighted using the gold/black mix and then added some Mithril Silver to the mix. Tom told me, 'I shade with black and highlight with white, unless I'm painting a metallic in which case I highlight with Mithril Silver.'

This Tau Crisis Battlesuit is another of Richard Lush's models. The dynamic pose and battle damage on the model's armour really bring it to life, while the blue tabard and shoulder plates provide a nice contrast to the subdued browns and greys used on the armour and weapons.

Emmanuel Megret painted and modelled this Daemon Prince of Tzeentch. They began with the metal Daemon Prince and added wings from the Lord of Change, the head and hand from the Empire Griffon, and Ahriman's staff.

Alex Neufeld sent me this picture of his converted Avatar, which was inspired by a piece of art from the previous edition of Codex: Eldar. Alex removed the original tabard and sculpted a replacement from Green Stuff. He also extended the body slightly, using Green Stuff to sculpt additional armour segments, and repositioned the arms. The white-green mane Alex added to the Avatar's helm was also sculpted from Green Stuff. The blades on the gauntlets were taken from Fuegan's helmet. Alex basecoated the red areas Scab Red and highlighted them using Blood Red, Blazing Orange and then Sunburst Yellow. He then washed them with a 1:1 mix of Baal Red and Gloss Varnish. The bloodied hand affect was achieved by repeatedly washing them with the red/varnish mix.

This Vermin Lord was modelled by Pascal Rooze from the Netherlands. He based the Vermin Lord on the plastic Daemon Prince kit, used Green Stuff to add fur, and added the head from the Vermin Lord. Pascal's also added a selection of rats to the model's base - you'll find rats in most of the Skaven plastic sets.
