Chaos Daemon Characters; Ogres
In today's article, Daemons of Chaos: Character Focus, Adam Troke takes a look at six of the most infamous Daemon characters - Kairos Fateweaver, Skulltaker, the Masque, Epidemius, the Changeling and Karanak. He provides some great tactics for using them on the battlefield and some background on each of the characters in case you haven't yet read the Daemons of Chaos army book. The article's opening picture is particularly cool: it has the fearsome six lined up like a daemonic dream team. The only thing it's lacking is a slow-motion video of them walking through the flaming ruins of an Empire village.
This morning, Stuart Black brought his Ogre Kingdoms models by my desk. Ogres have been cropping up everywhere since the new edition of Warhammer; must be something to do with stomp attacks! Here's a look at a few of Stuart's more interesting characters and units.
-
The white bones make for a great contrast against the dark skin of the Hunter. Click on the image to see the whole model and his Sabertusks, which Stuart basecoated Chaos Black and highlighted by mixing Shadow Grey and Chaos Black in a 2:1 and then 3:1 ratio.
-
Stuart based his Battle Standard Bearer on the Tyrant model, adding the gut plate from the Paymaster Maneater and the head and Ironfist from a plastic Ogre Bull. For the standard Staurt used a piece of brass rod and the icon from the Ironguts set.
-
One of Stuart's regular opponents uses an Empire army, so he's painted the Empire shields on his Ogres' shoulders to match the ones carried by his opponent's warriors. Their dark colour scheme (not to mention the skulls on the bases) makes Stuart's Ironguts look particularly menacing.
-
Stuarts added scorch marks to the barrels of the Leadbelchers weapons using the Forge World Dark Iron Weathering Powder.
That's it for today, but make sure you don't miss tomorrow's post and Jervis Johnson's in-depth Warhammer article, Steadfast.
