Painting Chaos Daemons; Daemon Models
After a weekend of warp-spawned activity we've all come back to the office today with high anticipation for tomorrow. This will be the first chance to advance order The Island of Blood boxed game and everyone's fingers are poised ready to add a set...or two to their shopping cart. If you haven't already done so then be sure to check out the Blog of Two Gamers, as over the past few weeks we've shown the entire contents of the boxed game in all its glory. You can also follow Andy Smillie and Adam Hall every step of the way as they paint not one but two sets of The Island of Blood. Here is a link to the first post.
Before we jump into tomorrow we still have some fantastic Daemon content to share with you this week. We kick it off today with Nick Bayton's Chaos Daemons: Painting Guide. Nick has applied his paint schemes to Plaguebearers, Bloodletters, Daemonettes and Pink Horrors, but really these schemes could be used on any Nurgle, Tzeentch, Slaanesh or Khorne army. They really do give you a great finish in just four stages and the Pink Horror guide looks particularly effective.
On Friday I showed you a few of Chad's Daemons and I promised you a few more today. Well, here they are along with a few more Daemons that I found this morning.

I really like the effect that Chad has achieved on the Bloodletter's hellblades. To do this he started with Chaos Black and then gave the whole sword a wash of Red Gore moving the brush from base to tip. He then added a Red Gore, highlight to the edge of the sword and then did the same with Golden Yellow. He finished with a final highlight of Skull White at the very tip of the sword.

For the Bloodletter's skin Chad started with a Mechrite Red basecoat and then gave the whole model a Devlan Mud wash. He then added a Blazing Orange highlight and finished them off with a selective highlight of Vomit Brown. For the horns he used a basecoat of Chaos Black and then added a coat of 'Ardcoat to give them a shiny effect.

Simon Grant's Daemon Prince sits proudly in the reception cabinets here at Games Workshop HQ. Again I was impressed with the way the weapon was painted on the model. Simon used a basecoat of Chaos Black and then feathered the edges with Blood Red before giving all of the edges of the weapon and the runes a Golden Yellow highlight. He also used a 'Ardcoat finish to really make these areas of the model stand out. Simon still plans on mixing Blood Red with some Water Effects to pour over the skulls on the base, he also keeps chanting 'Blood and Skulls for Lord Khorne' every time I walk past him.

Everyone has stopped by to take a look at Yan Zacks' Changeling. The blue areas of the model were painted with a base coat of Regal Blue and then highlighted with Ice Blue. Yan added a little Space Wolves before giving the model a final highlight with Skull White. For the scroll tappers he started with a basecoat of Dheneb Stone which was washed with Asurman Blue then Thraka Green and Leviathan Purple. He then re highlighted the whole area with a Dheneb Stone and Bleached Bone mix before finally adding some Skull White for the final highlight.
