New Daemons; White Dwarf: Sneak peek; Bloodcrushers
Last Tuesday the Chaos Gods spewed a host of new Daemon models into the material realm, and today they've deemed us worthy of a second helping. First up are Khorne's elite cavalry, the Bloodcrushers, which are now a multi-part plastic kit. Next, Tzeentch's most powerful sorcerer, Kairos Fateweaver. Finally, the gods have clubbed together to create two new Bitz Packs - one pack of Familiars and another containing some classic Chaos Space Marine miniatures.
-
This is the first time we've ever had a model for Kairos. In Warhammer he's the most powerful magic user a Daemons of Chaos player can field, and in Warhammer 40,000 he allows all nearby Daemons to re-roll their saves. I'm sure he'll be a regular sight on the battlefield.
-
As the Bloodcrushers are now available in plastic there's a whole host of different ways you can assemble and model them. It's also cheaper than ever to field large units of them.
I've listed all of the new products that are available to advance order below. I've also added Warhammer Battle Magic: Daemons of Chaos below because they're selling fast (I rather greedily ordered two packs) and I'd hate for you to miss out. Oh, and while I'm on the subject - the Beastmen magic cards have now sold out.
-
Hard-hitting, brutal and very dangerous - several boxes of Bloodcrushers will have a Daemon collector beaming with delight.
-
Also available to advance order from today are the two Bitz Packs listed below. The More Famous Familiars set is full of characterful models you can use to personalise your Chaos units, add to dioramas and use as Familiars. I've also listed the original Familiars pack in case you fancy combining the two. For Warhammer 40,000 players Traitors of Chaos set is great for adding Aspiring Champions to your units.
On the subject of Daemons, August's White Dwarf is almost warping at the spine, it's so rammed with the stuff of Chaos. If you're a subscriber you should be receiving your copy any day now, otherwise you'll be able to pick it up from next Friday. Until then, here's a quick peek inside August's issue.
-
This article by Mat Ward is full of useful tactics for Daemons of Chaos players. The best of which are his 'Key Combos', which explain how to equipt specific demonic units and characters for maximum effect.
-
August's terrain feature spans six pages and has a wealth of advice for modelling your own daemonic terrain. I particularly like it because most of the scenery can be made from the various plastic kits and doesn't require a degree in engineering.
As I've mention several times, Wade Pryce is the greatest devotee of Khorne I've ever come across - his obsession with skulls is frightening. I'm get the distinct feeling when he's looking at me that he's trying to decide which of his models my skull will fit best on. So it didn't surprise me to find his desk covered in the new Bloodcrushers (Khorne clearly rewards his disciples by supplying them with miniatures early).
-
Wade has assembled two units of four Bloodcrushers, though he's got even more awaiting assembly! 'For me, Bloodcrushers are hands-down the best Khornate Daemons. They're so unbelievably tough and the new models are gorgeous,' said Wade. Both of the units have Chaos Icons as they always form part of Wade's first wave, 'Bloodcrushers are fast and resilient, so I rush them towards the enemy and then use their icons to make sure that when my next wave of Daemons arrives they start as close to the enemy as possible and don't have to weather too much shooting.'
-
Wade has added extra components to all of his Bloodcrushers, mainly he's added more skulls. This icon bearer has had his left arm swapped for the arm carrying the standard in the Bloodletters box. Wade then added an icon from the Chaos Space Marine box set to make the banner top. If you look closely you'll notice the rider's horns have also been converted - Wade cut them half way up and added tips taken from the Knights of Chaos set. The skulls on the model's base are from the Tomb Kings Skeleton Warrior box but you'll also find a host of skulls in the Pack of Skulls Bitz Pack.
