Incoming: Warhammer!
There's a new edition of Warhammer out in July.
And I, for one, can't wait. Warhammer has always held a special place in my heart - it was the first wargame I ever played, and has all the swords, sorcery and monsters I've ever wanted. Not to mention the fact I get to command a vast army of warriors that (in my head at least) march across the Warhammer world cutting a bloody path through the domains of my enemies, slaying and pillaging as they go.

I bet you watched it twice. I did. And then several more times as people filtered into the office this morning and the news sunk in - new Warhammer. Rob's already been up to the Warhammer World store to pick up some more High Elf Spearmen and Ed's at this moment trying to decide which new army he'll start to mark the occasion, which I imagine is exactly what you're asking yourself right now.
The lucky chaps in the Studio have obviously known about the coming of new Warhammer for some months now, and they've been busy preparing their armies for the battles that lie ahead. Here's a look at what some of them have been up too.

Pete Foley painted this Plague Furnace as a centrepiece for his new Skaven army. He painted the wooden areas following the Doomwheel painting guide, but gave them a green tinge by applying a wash of Thraka Green. Click on the image to see the Plague Furnace in its entirety. Notice the banner that Pete has added from the Stormvermin kit.

I really like the extra books and scrolls Pete added from the Plague Monk kit. He painted the text using watered down reds and blacks and then added the blotches using washes. Matt Toone started his Tomb Kings army as part of the Studio's preparations for the new edition. Matt undercoated his models with Skull White Spray and then washed them with Gryphonne Sepia. The blue and gold areas were basecoated with Knarloc Green to lend them a verd antique look. Click on the image to see some of Matt's finished Skeleton Warriors.

Dom Murray painted these Pistoliers. The yellow feathers are very striking and when I asked him about them he said, 'I like to have a plain and distinctive feature on my units. It ties them together and makes them stand out on the battlefield.' The white areas on the models are all subtly different shades, as Dom thought each Pistolier would have differing amounts of dirt on them. Click on the image to see the whole unit.
