Codex Grey
Codex Grey
1) After undercoating the model Skull White, the power armor is painted with Blood Red. All other areas on the model are painted Chaos Black with the exception of the chest eagle and the parchment of the purity seal.
2) The model is now given a wash of Dark Flesh. A drop of varnish is added to help break the surface tension of the Dark Flesh paint and give even coverage. After the wash dries, the black areas can be neatened up and the chest eagle is painted Blazing Orange. The purity seal is then painted Dark Angels Green and the parchment is given a coat of Bestial Brown.
3) A slightly thinned Blazing Orange is carefully painted onto the edges of the armor. Try to ensure that the lines are of the same size and wide enough to allow you to paint another narrow line in the next step. Use Golden Yellow to highlight the chest eagle. The eyes are basecoated Dark Angels Green, while the purity seal are given highlights with a mix of Snot Green and Dark Angels Green. The parchment is now highlighted with Bleached Bone. The gun casing and shoulder rims are highlighted with a mix of Chaos Black and Codex Grey.
4) Carefully paint Fiery Orange onto the very edges of the armor for the final highlight. Use Bad Moon Yellow for the final highlight on the chest eagle, and a mix of Snot Green and Dark Angel Green is used to highlight the bottom edge of the eye. Add more Codex Grey to Chaos Black for the final highlight on the gun casing and the shoulder rims. Shadow Grey is very steadily painted onto all the soft ridges in between the armor plates.
5) Finally apply Boltgun Metal onto all the metal areas of the helmet, boltgun, and backpack.
