Introduction

Here in the Studio, the Space Marine Captain and Ork Warboss included in Assault on Black Reach have been causing quite a storm. Dazzlingly detailed, these push-fit plastic miniatures are so gorgeous it's hard to tell they're not metal without looking really, really carefully.

Since we're so chuffed with Dave Thomas and Seb Perbet's work - the sculptors of Captain and Warboss respectively - and the astounding paint jobs 'Eavy Metal lavished on them, that we decided it was worth looking in detail at how the 'Eavy Metal team painted these great miniatures. 'Eavy Metal's Kirsten Williams (along with Sebastian Archer) tackled the Space Marine Captain, while the Ork Warboss was given to senior painter Darren Latham.
