Legion of The Damned
The Legion of the Damned are an enigma, one of the greatest mysteries within the Imperium, Space Marines, whose jet-black armour is adorned with stylised flames and the macabre symbols of death. No living man can say for sure what the origins of the Legion of the Damned are, but rumours abound, each more fantastical than the last. Some say they are the survivors of the Fire Hawks Chapter who were lost in the Warp millennia ago, others that they are the lost spirits of Space Marines slain in battle or even the will of the Emperor given physical form.
Whatever the truth, the Legion of the Damned are a terrible foe, arriving unannounced and unbidden to fight beside Space Marines who are on the brink of defeat. Legends abound of their heroism and supernatural resilience, turning back an Orkish charge with a thunderous salvo of bolter fire or scouring the foe from a bunker with flamer and melta. No sooner have the Legion of the Damned eliminated the enemy and ensured victory for their allies than they depart, they vanish every bit as mysterious as their arrival. In their wake, the Legion of the Damned leave nought but destruction, death and their enduring legend.
This January the Legion of the Damned are released - a fantastic collection of highly detailed metal miniatures sculpted by Juan Diaz, Matt Holland and Neil Langdown. Full coverage of the new Legion of the Damned miniatures will appear in White Dwarf, including an 'Eavy Metal Masterclass and detailed designers' notes.
Shown here are two models from the forthcoming release: one Damned Legionnaire with bolter and one armed with a flamer - keep checking White Dwarf and the Games Workshop website for more details.
