Introduction
Many of the most glamorous things in the Imperial Guard army are the formidable killing machines such as the Leman Russ Battle Tank, soaring Valkyries and striking abhumans such as Ratlings or Ogryns. With such explosive (or quirky) options available to an Imperial Guard player, it's easy to forget that it's the poor dog-faced infantry that do the fighting, dying and winning of most scenarios. Without strong leadership though, the average Guardsman will be hard pressed to achieve his objectives, but well led he can overcome almost any odds.
In this article we're going to take a detailed look at Imperial Guard Command Squads and how to get the best out of them in your games; examining Orders and the effects they can have on your warriors; as well as the wargear and Regimental Advisors that you can add to your Command Squads to make them even more effective.
