A Blog of Two Gamers - Part 4
Having spent the last couple of weeks catching some sun in the Greek islands, this week I've been frantically trying to catch up with Adam. I decided to batch paint all the infantry in one go, so although I haven't finished any models this week (Slacker! -Adam), I've done a fair bit of hobbying - cleaning the mould lines from, undercoating, basing, basecoating and painting the weapons on around 40 models. Owing to the amount he painted last week, Adam's been able to take it a bit easier this week. Here's a look at what he's been up to.
-
Adam: This week I thought I'd treat myself and paint some more of the really cool stuff, starting with the second Warlock Engineer - I'll get back to painting Clanrats next week. By reversing the colour scheme on the Warlock's robes, he looks different enough from my other Warlock (check him out in part 3) but still fits with the army's colour scheme.
-
Next off, I painted the two Master Moulders. They're some of my favourite figures from The Island of Blood set, in particular the shock prod - it's really vicious. Just imagine getting zapped by a giant tazer... ouch! I love the way chunks of warpstone have been incorporated into so many of the Skaven models.
-
Finally this week, I painted the two Warpfire Throwers. I basecoated the flames with Iyanden Darksun and then added Blazing Orange to the top half of the flames and Blood Red to the edges. I then blended the colours together with a wash of Gryphonne Sepia. I used the same painting technique on the warp smoke that I used on the wapstone chunks. Hopefully, by the end of next week I'll have painted enough to start playing some games; I really hate using unpainted models. Provided of course Andy manages to get himself caught up...

Rob: Andy asleep on the office floor - this isn't something I see every morning that's for sure! After falling behind Adam's heroic efforts of the last two weeks, Andy has been spending all his spare time trying to catch up, and is batch painting pretty much all the infantry in one go. From what I could see he's about halfway through the models, so with any luck he should have a playable force by next week. Don't worry I did what any good friend would do: took a couple of silly pictures and then woke him up so that he could get back to writing blogs for you.
