High Elf Prince Imrik, Dragonlord

High Elf Prince on a Star Dragon is made to rip units apart. It is one of the only monsters capable of taking on a ranked up unit head-on and breaking it in a turn. You can either use it to charge the enemy's toughest unit or land behind the enemy lines and cause Terror tests on their units. To protect them from the inevitable enemy fire, equip the Prince with Armour of Caledor making him and his dragon immune to flaming attacks. This means that some of the enemy's deadliest weapons will be ineffective. You can afford to be less careful with a Star Dragon as even a cannon ball is unlikely to kill it.

A Dragon Mage, mounted on his Sun Dragon, provides a High Elf army with some mobile offensive magic. Atop his dragon the Mage is perfectly placed to cast spells such as Burning Head that affect all models under a given path, fly him down an enemy's flank in order to cause maximum damage. Should you want to send the dragon into combat (and why wouldn't you?) then cast Flaming Sword of Ruin (his default spell), and watch your wizard become a combat monster.
